Course Details: This course is designed for individuals who have recently been assigned to a SWAT team and have little to no SWAT training. The course is a 5-day (50+ hours) course with two low light training evolutions. The course will begin Monday morning at 0800 in the classroom at the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office Firearms Training Facility.
Course Topics: The course will include, but is not limited to:
• Firearms (pistol and carbine) day and night
• Building/ Room Clearing (CQB) day and night
• Mechanical Breaching
• SWAT Member Medical
• SWAT Legal Issues
• Response to a Barricade Incident
• Response to a Hostage Incident
• High-Risk Warrant Service
Prerequisites: Students will:
• Be a peace officer or active military personnel and be able to provide agency ID on the first day of the course.
• Have a POST certification with the pistol and carbine
• Have carbines (both optic and iron sights) zeroed at 50 yards prior to arrival.
• Have weapon-mounted flashlights for low-light training.
• Be able to physically work long hours in adverse conditions.
Equipment: Students will need individual equipment used for SWAT operations to include:
Required Equipment:
• SWAT uniform(s) – To include long sleeve shirts
• Body armor (with rifle plates front and rear)
• Helmet
• Carbine – zeroed at 50yds (sling, mounted flashlight and 3 magazines)
• Pistol (mounted flashlight and 3 magazines)
• Pistol belt (holster, magazine pouch, etc.)
• 350 Rounds for pistol and 400 rounds for carbine, NO “Green Tip”
• Clear eye protection & ear protection
• Gloves
Optional Equipment:
• If available, bring a M4 Simunition upper receiver or bolt conversion and a Simunition pistol or conversion as well as Simunition ammunition. If not available, they will be provided for you.
Student Requirements: Students are:
• Required to actively participate in all classroom, range, and practical exercises as part of their successful completion requirements.
• Required to adhere to all elements of the firearms and CQB safety briefs. Students who violate the firearms and CQB safety briefs may be removed from the course.
• Required to pass the basic SWAT written test with a passing score of 80% in order to receive a course certificate of completion. Students that score below 80% will receive a certificate of attendance.
• Lunch will be provided each day. Monday and Wednesday are long days and there will be a dinner break where students will be provided a sandwich and chips. There are refrigerators and microwaves available at the range for your use if needed.
Medical: Students with medical conditions that may impair their ability to participate in training are responsible for contacting their physician for medical clearance prior to participating in training. The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office will not assume responsibility for any students who do not
seek medical consultation prior to course participation.

Payment Instructions: The cost of the course is $400 per student and is limited to 24 seats. Please make checks out per the instructions below. Payment is due prior to the class start date so please make arrangements to mail payment to the below PO Box. Agencies sending more than two students will be required to arrange payment 30 days prior to the start date. If signing up within 30 days from the start of training, payment will be due immediately.
