Overview

Designed to meet the demand for executive security both domestically and internationally, this comprehensive course covers the most vital concepts of low to medium risk protective operations.  Students learn to develop plans, conduct route and site surveys, run motorcade operations, perform foot formations, and execute emergency immediate action procedures.  Teamwork is the key to success and the course emphasizes this by culminating in a realistic street scenario protection mission.  This is a physically and mentally demanding course requiring long days and maximum student participation.  Students should prepare accordingly.

Experience Requirements

This is an advanced level class. The student needs to know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling, weapon system familiarity, foundational marksmanship skills, and working from a holster. Must have successfully completed Handgun 104* or equivalent prior to taking this physically demanding course.

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.

This course is a prerequisite for High Risk Executive Protection Operations.

*Students who successfully completed the 2-day course ‘Handgun 104: Introduction to Defensive Handgun Skills’ prior to February 2024 will have fulfilled the prerequisites necessary to enroll in any courses that require successful completion of either the 1-day ‘Handgun 104: Advanced Handgun Skills’ or the 1-day ‘Introduction to Defensive Handgun Skills’ course.

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Explore the fundamentals of executive protection operations
  • Learn from case study reviews
  • Conduct protective walking and driving formations
  • Understand and establish defense in depth
  • Acquire protection specific live fire skills using a semi-automatic handgun
  • Select and utilize cover and concealment with a principal
  • Decide and utilize the appropriate use of force in the protective environment
  • Discover defensive tactics for protective personnel
  • Develop advance and site survey skills and techniques
  • Participate in a practical street exercise
Equipment List
  • Handgun in a major caliber such as 9mm, .357 Sig, .40 cal., or .45 ACP (semi-auto center fire pistols only – revolvers or .22 caliber pistols are not allowed)
  • Holster
  • Magazine pouches
  • 3 magazines
  • Sturdy belt
  • Footwear suitable for rapid movement and turning
  • Clothing suitable for training in any weather on outdoor ranges
  • Business casual outfit for street exercise (collared shirt/suitable pants or female equivalent)
  • Wraparound eyewear
  • Notebook
  • Recommend electronic hearing protection or earmuffs and earplugs

Tuition includes free loan of firearms, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping, NH, New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Colorado Springs, CO locations.

Ammo
  • Estimated round count: 400 rounds pistol
  • For Epping, NH courses, non-toxic, non-jacketed FRANGIBLE ammunition may be required – call for clarification
  • Lead core ammunition to be used on steel only
  • No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time
  • Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping, New Smyrna Beach, and Colorado Springs facilities only
Notes

This is a physically and mentally demanding course requiring long days and maximum student participation, prepare accordingly.

Due to the nature of this course, students may be asked to use their vehicles to simulate a motorcade for a more realistic experience. All course-related driving takes place within a 25-mile radius.
