This 5-day course teaches the skills needed to plan and carry out a protective mission for a dignitary, prisoner, or witness facing a potential threat. Training focuses on operations in a permissive environment, and students should expect long days of planning and preparation leading up to a demanding final exercise.

Topics include: protective team selection and organization, security surveys, foot formations, route and venue advances, vehicle arrival/departure and motorcade drills, vehicle counter-ambush, explosive/IED awareness, residential security, operation orders, and SOP development.

What to bring:

• Pistol with at least 50 rounds and 2 magazines
• Concealable hip holster and mag pouch
• Eye and ear protection
• Range uniform with a zip or button-up jacket that covers the holster (no pullovers)
• Business attire for the final exercise: dress slacks, collared shirt, jacket, dress shoes (no jeans)
• Laptop (optional)
