SUMMARY:East Baton Rouge Parish Basic SWAT Course
DESCRIPTION:Course Details: This course is designed for individuals who have recently been assigned to a SWAT team and have little to no SWAT training. The course is a 5-day (50+ hours) course with two low light training evolutions. The course will begin Monday morning at 0800 in the classroom at the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office Firearms Training Facility. \nCourse Topics: The course will include\, but is not limited to:\n• Firearms (pistol and carbine) day and night\n• Building/ Room Clearing (CQB) day and night\n• Mechanical Breaching\n• SWAT Member Medical\n• SWAT Legal Issues\n• Response to a Barricade Incident\n• Response to a Hostage Incident\n• High-Risk Warrant Service \nPrerequisites: Students will:\n• Be a peace officer or active military personnel and be able to provide agency ID on the first day of the course.\n• Have a POST certification with the pistol and carbine\n• Have carbines (both optic and iron sights) zeroed at 50 yards prior to arrival.\n• Have weapon-mounted flashlights for low-light training.\n• Be able to physically work long hours in adverse conditions. \nEquipment: Students will need individual equipment used for SWAT operations to include:\nRequired Equipment:\n• SWAT uniform(s) – To include long sleeve shirts\n• Body armor (with rifle plates front and rear)\n• Helmet\n• Carbine – zeroed at 50yds (sling\, mounted flashlight and 3 magazines)\n• Pistol (mounted flashlight and 3 magazines)\n• Pistol belt (holster\, magazine pouch\, etc.)\n• 350 Rounds for pistol and 400 rounds for carbine\, NO “Green Tip”\n• Clear eye protection & ear protection\n• Gloves\nOptional Equipment:\n• If available\, bring a M4 Simunition upper receiver or bolt conversion and a Simunition pistol or conversion as well as Simunition ammunition. If not available\, they will be provided for you. \nStudent Requirements: Students are:\n• Required to actively participate in all classroom\, range\, and practical exercises as part of their successful completion requirements.\n• Required to adhere to all elements of the firearms and CQB safety briefs. Students who violate the firearms and CQB safety briefs may be removed from the course.\n• Required to pass the basic SWAT written test with a passing score of 80% in order to receive a course certificate of completion. Students that score below 80% will receive a certificate of attendance.\n• Lunch will be provided each day. Monday and Wednesday are long days and there will be a dinner break where students will be provided a sandwich and chips. There are refrigerators and microwaves available at the range for your use if needed. \nMedical: Students with medical conditions that may impair their ability to participate in training are responsible for contacting their physician for medical clearance prior to participating in training. SUMMARY:Basic SWAT School
DESCRIPTION:The Lafayette Police Department’s S.W.A.T. Team is pleased to announce that it will offer its 27th Basic S.W.A.T. School in Lafayette\, LA. This will be an intense six-day course\, which will provide students with a basic range of instruction in tactics and equipment. Upon completing this course\, students will have the basic knowledge of S.W.A.T. tactics. This will enhance their performance and duties as Tactical Operators. Students attending this training should be in good physical condition due to the profound schedule that has been developed. This training will require a physical fitness test first thing Sunday afternoon and physical fitness training every morning. \nThe physical fitness test will be at 1600 hours on Sunday\, November 10th at 400 Coliseum Dr. \nMinimum Physical Requirements:\n1) 1.5 mile run in the time of 13:35 minutes\, 2) 34 sit-ups in one minute\, 3) 26 push-ups in one minute\, 4) 2 pull-ups {no time}.\nIndividuals who do not meet the minimum requirements will not receive a certificate of completion but will receive a certificate of attendance\, if they choose to stay for the duration of the school. \nThe fee for this invaluable training will be $250.00 per person. There will only be 30 slots available for this training\, and they will be filled on a FIRST-PAID\, first-served basis. DESCRIPTION:4 Day/40 Hour Deliberate vs Dynamic CQB Instructor Level Course\nGallowglass Guardian Group\nThis 4-day/40 hour course will focus heavily on the necessary individual operator\, team leader\, and instructor level skillsets to successfully conduct and teach Close Quarter Battle (CQB) tactical operations. This course curriculum is designed as a “train the trainer” approach with a wide range of skillsets covered from individual operator procedures to senior team leader tactical clearance flow methods. This course will explain the major tactical differences between deliberate and dynamic CQB to help determine which method should be used for different types of law enforcement operations for the scenario they are faced with. \nA wide range of individual and team leader level techniques will be taught to ensure that both junior and senior officers are prepared for a wide range of CQB operational challenges. Participants will also understand the “Hybrid” clearance concept in certain situations were deliberate and dynamic CQB tactics are morphed together to provide the officer the best chance for success in a chaotic high-risk scenario. CQB clearance methodology with each type of tactic will be explained so participants have a high level of understanding of how each tactic is implemented.
