SUMMARY:SJSO Tactical Operations Course
DESCRIPTION:COURSE OVERVIEW\nThe intended course purpose is to broaden the team members’ knowledge of the baseline skills necessary to successfully integrate into law enforcement tactical units. Over the course of 7 days (80hrs)\, an emphasis on solving problems such as High Risk Warrants and Armed Barricades will be verified with practical exercises\, including force-on-force\, scenario based drills \nTopics Covered: \n\nTeam missions and capabilities\nMission Planning\nClose Quarters Marksmanship\nWeapons Manipulations\nEquipment set up and considerations\nIntro to Dynamic CQB\nIntro to Combat Clearance\nThrottle Control\nPerimeter Operations/Structure Dominance\nPort and cover techniques\nExterior movement techniques\nStructure Geometry\nSmall Cell Clearing Operations\nLarge Cell Clearing Operations\nPost-assault Procedures\nVerbal / Non-Verbal Communications\nBarricades / Danger Areas\nCommon Doors / De confliction procedures\nArrest Team Procedures\nTransitional Tactics\nLow Light / No Light/ NVG Operations (if applicable)\n\nThis is a physically demanding course with little classroom instruction. Please make sure that you are able to perform under stressful situations for an extended time period. The training will occur regardless of weather conditions. Please make plans to train in cold or wet environments. \nCOURSE GEAR LIST  \n\nTactical uniform / clothing\nFootwear with ankle support\nLight weight gore-tex or nylon jacket\nIFAK with tourniquet\nNVG’s with sacrificial lens and mounts (if available)\nIR strobe (if available)\nHandheld light\nBallistic helmet\nWrap around ballistic eye pro (day/night)\nPeltor/ComTac/Sordin type ear pro (must cover ears & fit under helmet)\nAthletic cup/groin protection\nGloves\nTactical Body Armor (plate carriers are acceptable)\nProtective/Gas mask with clear poly-carbonate eye cover\nDuty Rifle (Must have sling and weapon mounted white light. Optics highly recommended)\nDuty Handgun with Holster\n500 rounds ammunition\, Rifle\n500 rounds ammunition\, Handgun\nSimunition Conversion Kits for Rifle and Pistol (If available)\n900 rounds UTM or equivalent\, 9mm handgun\n900 rounds UTM or equivalent\, 5.56 rifle\n10 green Chem Lights\n\n*If you or your department do not have some of the required gear\, it may be possible to borrow the gear from SJSO. SUMMARY:Less Lethal Instructor Program
DESCRIPTION:The Less Lethal Instructor Program provides the necessary training for a changing world. This course is comprised for four 8-hour instructor-level classes covering OC Aerosols\, Impact Munitions\, Chemical Munitions and Distraction Device® Munitions. The student will acquire instructor-level knowledge of Defense Technology® products\, both technically and tactically\, along with the skills necessary to conduct in-service training. \nCOURSE OVERVIEW\nEach of the four class modules focuses on a different subject and includes a half-day of lecture-based studies followed by a half-day in the field for deployment drills. Unique to this class are the state-of-the-art deployment tactics that come direct from the manufacturer of the products used. In each topic\, the student will receive a CD containing presentation materials and videos to be utilized by the student for training in their own departments.\n• Day 1 — OC Aerosol Projectors Instructor Program\n• Day 2 — Less Lethal Impact Munitions (LLIM) – Instructor Program\n• Day 3 — Chemical Munitions (CHEM) – Instructor Program (CN/CS/OC/Smoke)\n• Day 4 — Distraction Device® Munitions (DD) – Instructor Program \nCOURSE BENEFITS\nThis course is conducted by real-world professionals with strong operational and applied experience in their respective fields. Upon completion of the course and successful passing of the final exam\, the student is authorized to provide in-service training to their agency in specific areas for three years from the testing date. \nADDITIONAL DETAILS\nPREREQUISITES\nEach attendee must be in good physical condition and able to perform the practical exercises associated with tactical applications with the use of these products.
